Thanksgiving

Well, Blake wasn't able to get the day after Thanksgiving off so our plans of leaving Wednesday and staying until Sunday in Yuma didn't quite work out. Luckily, my dad was in town the Saturday before though so the kids and I went back with him and spent the whole week there. We missed Blake and were really sad that we didn't get to spend Thanksgiving with him but it was good to see my family. We had a fun week and did some shopping, lots of eating, played at the castle park, and went on a boat tour of the Colorado river. Blake came up Friday night and we went to the prison museum and out to eat with him on Saturday. It was a fun trip and we wish they lived closer!

I'm getting behind again!

It seems like I can either be current on my blog or current on my personal journal. I can never seem to keep up on both!

To play catch up real quick- we got to spend some time with my family two weekends ago. They came up from Yuma for a temple day so we went to the session with them and then picked up the kids and had lunch with them before they had to leave again. It was fun to see them and we cant wait until Thanksgiving when we get to really spend some time with them!

This past weekend we had the Sharp (my mom's family) family picnic at Encanto park. It was so fun to see everyone and Logan had such a blast running around on the playground with all the kids! I wish I had taken more pictures. I only took a few and most of them came out too dark. :( Here are the few I got...

In other news, I finally finished painting the cabinets! Well, kinda-sorta anyways! I lost a couple hinges so I still need to hang the last couple doors and I need to put on the new knobs. I'm so burned out on the project though that I think it'll probably stay this way for a while until it starts driving me crazy enough to go back and fix it.

That's about it here! We're just keeping busy with the kids and church and everything and I'm getting SO excited about Thanksgiving! It's my favorite holiday!

Halloween

Halloween was so fun this year! Logan really got excited and loved trick or treating! We carved pumpkins, went to two trunk or treat parties, two parties with friends, and trick or treating. It was super busy but we had a blast! Blake was a doctor, I was a cowgirl, Logan was a luchador (aka a Mexican wrestler like on Nacho Libre), and Brin was a 50's girl. BTW, thanks Blake for pulling a face on our one family picture! :(

Drama

I swear we can't seem to go a month without some weird health drama over here. This time it's Brin again. She hit her head pretty hard on the tile (the dog accidently knocked her down) about 2 weeks ago. We didn't think much of it because she only cried for a few minutes and acted fine afterwards but she has an extremely high pain tolerance so its hard to tell with her. I noticed a soft spot on her head a few days later so I had the doctor check it out at her check up last Friday. He was concerned and sent us in to Banner Desert for some cat scans.

It turns out she does have a skull fracture but there wasn't any bleeding in the brain so it should heal itself in about 6 weeks. He said to keep her from hitting it again in the meantime. Um, how do I do that exactly? She falls down like a million times every day! The fracture is right at the back of her little head where she's bound to hit it every time she falls! She's also just figured out how to climb on Logan's bed and his steps so we've had to come up with ways to stop that from happening. I think I'm going to make her a little padded hat to wear around the house but I know she is going to throw such a fit when I put it on her! She won't even let me put headbands on her! Has anyone else had experience with this?

Even with all the drama, she's still happy and healthy. She loves all the toys she got for her birthday a last week and loves to push all her new dollies around in the stroller. Logan loves stealing the stroller and scaring her by pretending he's going to run her over with it. Typical older brother behavior :) He is getting so ornery lately! We've had to start doing groundings to discipline him because nothing else seems to work. Crazy kid!

We had a fun day at Freestone Park this week and took a few pictures.

We are getting so excited for Halloween! I'm trying to finish up Logan's costume today. It's not turning out as cool as I thought it would be which is a bummer after spending so much time on it but he loves it so I guess that's all that matters!

#1

We had a birthday here yesterday- Brin turned one! I can't believe this past year went by so fast and my little newborn is now running around and jabbering and keeping up with the big kids. It makes me kind of sad that she grew up so fast but happy too because I'm excited to see her grow and learn. Her favorite things are Logan, the doggy, and her baby dolls. She loves to eat, jump, and play peekaboo. She's very affectionate but can turn into full tantrum mode in seconds. She's got so much personality already it will be interesting to see how much she changes in the next year. Here are a few of my favorite pictures of Brin from this past year and a few from her little party with the family yesterday...
